An archaeological and artistic study of models of Ottoman ceramic tiles preserved in the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo Published for the first time

Abstract

This research aims to study a group of ceramic tiles preserved in the stores of the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo, which are part of a group of treasures. These tiles varied in terms of general shape, as they came between single tiles and others in the form of 227 a group of tiles. Their shapes also varied between square, rectangular, and others. A group of diverse decorations were embodied in them, which clarified the stages of the development of Ottoman ceramics, and represented them with skill, as they came to clarify the decorations and tracked the stages of the development of these decorations that appeared on these tiles and analyzed them, in addition to the multiple artistic influences that appeared on them, and showed the extent of the artist's success in designing these tiles and employing them according to their uses, as there were two groups of these tiles that were used in covering two tables, the first of which was a round table made of metal in the style of The European "French" and the legs are covered with three-dimensional acanthus leaves and the second is a rectangular table made of wood covered with a rectangular assembly on which the name of God is written, and if it indicates anything, it reflects the extent of the use of ceramic tiles that were mostly used to cover the facades of facilities and inside facilities, so they appeared in various artistic works, and accordingly came the analytical study of those tiles and followed the stages of their manufacture and analyzed the various decorations that appeared on them and studied the multiple artistic influences, and this was preceded by the descriptive study between single tiles, numbering 9 tiles, and others in the form of an assembly of tiles, where there are 5 diverse assemblies of two tiles or three tiles or four tiles. Which includes a description, analysis and comparison of those pieces and what they came with of decorations and what they came with of clear diversity and a study of the different decorative topics and units in addition to the colors, and also the "industrial and decorative style
